Stretches to keep you moving during the day.
These are some of my favourite stretches to help keep you stretched, mobilised and calm during your working day – give yourself a 5 minute stretch break – you deserve it!
If you attend my virtual classes you should definitely be familiar with these moves…
Standing Roll Down.
So simple but so effective. It\’s a great way to get your spine moving and also to check in and see how you are feeling in your body.
Standing feet hip distance apart start to roll down really slowly through your spine, hold at the bottom and then slowly make your way back up (try to use your core rather than pulling on your back).
Exhale breathe to roll down, hold on an inhale and exhale to roll up.
Thread the Needle.
I love this stretch – such a great twisting feeling.
Start on all fours – bring your arm up and out to the side to open up and then thread that arm under the other as you twist through. Repeating on each side.
Exhale to open out, hold on an inhale breathe. Exhale to twist through and hold on an inhale.
Cat Cow.
A great stretch to mobilise your spine and to connect to your breathe and movement.
Start on all fours – round through your spine (like an angry cat!) and then open out in to an extension (like a cow?!) with your gaze coming forward. Move slowly bit by bit through your spine.
Exhale to round and Inhale to open up.
